About this course
This course is for pharmacists who wish to start work in a GP Surgery setting as a clinical pharmacist.
The starting point for a clinical pharmacist in General Practice is in a non-patient-facing role which predominately consists of processing medication requests and clinical letters. This includes being able to competently use the GP software (Level 1) to process medication request tasks in a safe manner. It covers clinical decision-making (level 2) which includes checking the monitoring requirements of the medication and the medical condition being treated.
This course will cover Level 2- Clinical Decision Making:
- Monitoring requirements of common conditions
- Monitoring requirements of commonly prescribed medications
- Repeat medication reauthorisation
- Dealing with prescription Clinical dilemmas
-The learning from Level 1 will be put into practise by completing a number of case study tasks which reflect the most common tasks processed by Pharmacists in a GP Surgery. You are required to use the resources provided to work through each case and your understanding will be assessed at each stage.
